Sketches - Defcon, Spookytown and More

A big thanks to everyone who came by my table at Defcon a few weekends ago. I really appreciate it. I met a lot of really nice people and did and bunch of drawings. Here are a few. A sold my pre-drawn Mal and Jane drawings, so I had to do some news ones. I also did this Kaylee which I really like...
Here are a couple of Spookytown sketches I did during my down time at the show. No, the graphic novel isn't done yet. I suck. But I'm taking several weeks off from freelance work since the baby is coming soon, so maybe if I have time when he's sleeping I can work on the book.
Here are a few character sketches for a project I might do if and when I get Spookytown done. But that's a long way away.

My Son the Comic Book Fan

This is crazy. I was taking a closer look at some of the sonogram shots of the kiddo and noticed this. Apparently, he got a hold of a copy of Fantastic Four #48. The classic Stan Lee/Jack Kirby issue introducing Galactus and the Silver Surfer. That's incredible. I don't even have that comic! Looks like it's Near Mint too! Once he comes out, I'm putting that book away for his college fund.

Believe the Hype, it's a Sequel!

I know Chuck D. told you "Don't believe the hype", but in this case you really should. The Dark Knight was greatness. A sequel better than the original. A better comic book film than Iron Man. Iron Man is much more fun than The Dark Knight, that's for sure, a better summer popcorn super hero movie, but The Dark Knight is a better film. Darker. Well, much, much, much darker, but better.

All that talk about "Ledger should get an Oscar, blah, blah, blah." Man, I gotta say, pretty dang valid. I don't know if he will win one, but I really do think he should at least be nominated. He walked away with this movie. He actually ran away with it. Better than Nicholson. Yep, I said it. Better than Nicholson. Do yourself a favor and go see it, but don't take your younger kiddos (like I saw so many doing). The Joker is kinda a psycho.

The Watchmen - I'll Be Watching

Well, if the movies is a cool as the trailer I will be. After seeing some of the costume images awhile back, I had a nervous feeling about this movie. But after watching (get it, watching?) the trailer, I'm much more psyched about seeing this. I guess it's time to pull the book off the shelf and re-read it, I have until March, so I think I've got time. Good grief, it's been like 20 years since I read it. I've forgotten more about it than I remember. It's funny how they call it a "graphic novel" in the trailer. Technically, it's a collected mini-series in trade paperback. But to quote Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap... ''That's nit picking, isn't it?''

Now, if I can only get ticket to see "The Dark Knight" this weekend.

Spookytown.net and a Few Sketches

I finally did something with Spookytown.net, it's not much right now. It's just sort of a quick information page with sketches and and stuff. Speaking of sketches, here are some I did recently.
