Dead@17 Commission - Nara vs Violet

Here is a piece someone recently commissioned me to do. It's Dead@17's Nara Kilday battling Violet Grey from the end of Blood of Saints. The only tweak to it is he wanted Nara in a "goth punky outfit", which I was more than willing to provide. I'm pretty happy with how this piece turned out. It came together pretty quickly. One thumbnail got me the pose I wanted and it took from there. This is ink on bristol, colored with Prismacolors. Hope you like it.

Dead@17 Sketch Cards - My Full Set

Here is a look at all the cards I did for 5finity Productions' Dead@17 Sketch Card Series . The first two cards (upper left corner) I got back as "Artist Exclusives". I already sold the first one to a collector. If anyone is interested in the second, drop me a line (contact at calslayton.com).

UPDATE: Both cards are now sold.

Dead@17 Sketch Card Preview

I was given permission to preview one of the cards I did for the Dead@17 Sketch Card Series being produced by 5finity Productions. I finished all of them and sent them off. They were a lot of fun to work on. I hope those people who get my cards dig 'em. I get two of them back from the company, which is cool.

Dead@17 Sketch Cards

I mentioned a while back that I might have some more Dead@17 news to announce. And I also mentioned how I wanted to get into sketch cards and that I was already working on a set. Well, if you put two and two together you can guess where I'm going. I'm happy to announce that I'm contributing to the upcoming Dead@17 Sketch Card Series that is being produced by 5finity Productions. As you can see, I've already received my blanks and I've drawn half of my card commitment. I wish I could show you the other side of these, but contractually I can't. Not yet. I'm excited about the set and I'm looking forward to doing more of these. In fact, I've been invited to work on a second card set from 5finity, but I haven't signed the contracts yet, so I'll announce it when that happens.

Pin-up in Dead@17 Afterbirth TPB

My pin-up for Josh Howard's Dead@17 "Afterbirth" TPB came out today. The Image Comics book collects issues #1-4 for the "Afterbirth" storyline. Here's a synopsis from the Image site...

In the latest chapter of the DEAD@17 saga, Nara and Hazy face their darkest hour. The insidious Abraham Pitch has returned and plots to open the Abyss, while Nara's crusade against the Marked has disastrous consequences for those closest to her.

This pin-up was lot of fun to do and I'm really happy with how it turned out in print. The colors look really great. Not that you can tell for the terrible quality photo I snapped of it. Anyway, go pick a copy of the book, Josh is putting some good stuff out there. Also, I usually play my cards close to the chest, but I should have some more Dead@17 news to announce later. So stay tuned to see what it might be. Have fun out there.

Dead@17 Nara Pin-up

Here's a pin-up I completed recently for Josh Howard's Dead@17. It's supposed to appear in an upcoming trade paperback collection. I post again when it comes out. It was fun to do, I like how it turned out. Especially the colors. Hope you like it too.
